Report of a study comparing Vivite Skin Care System with Cetaphil System for Photoaging.
Vivete Skin Care System (Allergan) is a collection of skin care products containing glycolic compounds and natural antioxidants. Both glycolic acids and antioxidants are studied for their effects on increasing the water-binding hyaluronic acid in the skin, as well as collagen.
Cetaphil is a widely available gentle skin cleanser and moisturizer.
The study reference below compared the use of Vivete facial cleanser, eye cream and daily antioxidant with Cetaphil cleanser and moisturizer over 60 days in 36 women ages 35 to 65. The women subject and physician observers assessed the two products based on changes in hyperpigmentation (increased pigment), and changes in small wrinkles and fine lines.
The authors conclusions state the the subjective patient reports suggested more improvement in the appearance of wrinkling and skin texture with the Vivete skin care system compared with Cetaphil, but that no differences were noted by the physician evaluators.
